Oromaxillofacial manifestations of COVID-19

Studies have reported that COVID-19 infected patients can present oraland maxillofacial manifestations with multiple clinical aspects.A
bibliographic search was carried out in the Infomed, PubMed and SciELO
databases which aim was to describe the main oral and maxillofacial
manifestations related to COVID-19. As a result, 24 articles were selected
according to their significance to the subject. The impact of COVID-19 on
orofacial structures is mainly determine by the patient’s immune system,
the drug therapy administered and the pathogenesis of the virus. The
heterogeneity and prevalence of these manifestations have determined
the necessity of carrying out routine oral examinations by specialists in
Stomatology, as part of the multidisciplinary approach required for the
success of the treatment.
