Benefits of rehabilitation therapies in patients with a medical diagnosis of multiple sclerosis

Introduction: multiple sclerosis is a multifactorial disease with diverse symptoms and currently no cure. Rehabilitative therapy improves the quality of life and reduces the severity of the symptoms and signs that may appear.
Objective: explain the benefits of rehabilitation therapies in patients with a medical diagnosis of multiple sclerosis.
Methods: exhaustive search and review in Spanish and English using keywords. Information from the last 5 years was collected in the Google Scholar search engine and high-impact scientific journals. A total of 50 articles were obtained, to which complete articles, with available references, that referred to the general objective of the work and publications in Spanish and English were applied as selection criteria, finding 23 bibliographies that corresponded to it.
Development: aspects related to rehabilitation therapies such as physical exercises, aerobic exercises, virtual rehabilitation, taichí and aquatic therapy and their benefits for better control of muscle strength, gait, balance and coordination are addressed.
Conclusions: rehabilitative therapies for the treatment of patients with multiple sclerosis are of great benefit. Evidence from various modalities has allowed rehabilitation to be an option not to be underestimated by the scientific community.
