Pedagogical innovation in health sciences: an urgent need
Keywords:
Higher Medical Education, Developmental teaching-learning process, Health SciencesAbstract
Pedagogical innovation in the health sciences is an urgent necessity for training professionals capable of facing complex challenges in changing environments. Traditional methods are being replaced by strategies such as problem-based learning, clinical simulation, and the use of immersive technologies, which promote knowledge retention and the development of critical skills. In Cuba, the integration of study with work and the legacy of medical educators have contributed to a humanistic and community-oriented education. The COVID-19 pandemic highlighted the importance of adapting educational strategies. Pedagogical innovation, more than a luxury, is an ethical commitment and an indispensable condition for transforming higher medical education and achieving relevant curricular outcomes.
