Alzheimer's disease: important socio-health challenge for the family doctor

Alzheimer's disease is a neurodegenerative disorder that mainly affects the elderly and is characterized by a progressive deterioration of cognitive functions. Due to its high frequency and significant impact, Alzheimer's disease is one of the greatest current socio-health challenges that requires interventions at different levels for its prevention, diagnosis and treatment.
The family doctor can play a fundamental role in establishing the diagnosis and implementing non-pharmacological interventions by collaborating with other health professionals, can significantly contribute to the well-being and quality of life of patients with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers. .
