Abstract

Health research plays a crucial role in the advancement of society, not only through its contribution to individual and collective well-being, but also through its ability to drive economic development. This article analyzes the concept of scientific impact in this field, defining it as the impact that research actions leave on knowledge, the economy, and society. A multidimensional assessment is proposed based on four key categories: scientific outputs (indexed publications, patents, awards), knowledge exchange (participation in events, scientific societies), knowledge usability (citations, derived innovations), and attention-grabbing (funding and collaborations). These tools seek to go beyond the mere quantification of publications to reflect the true scope of research, including its acceptance by the scientific community and its practical application. The article emphasizes the need for policies that foster the transfer of knowledge to public health, especially in resource-limited contexts. He also emphasizes that measuring impact is not an end in itself, but rather an essential step in guiding research toward tangible solutions that improve quality of life. The final reflection underscores the importance of collaboration between researchers, institutions, and governments for health science to fulfill its transformative mission.
